WHAT: Flash Gallery is a Windsor Artist Collective geared towards re-appropriating the Gallery as a site for active participation and creativity.

HOW: By reclaiming and reactivating gallery spaces that are reserved for “Fine Art”, the gallery becomes a vehicle for generating art rather than displaying it. Through pre-planned events that can be encountered in the everyday, Flash uses DIY strategies and activities to provide an environment that invites the audience to be a part of the art. The participation of the Flash event becomes the art itself.

WHY: Flash Gallery fosters an environment where art is generated through the active participation of the audience. By re-evaluating the physical interactions the audience has with the Gallery Space, the pre-existing infrastructure is dissolved along with the apprehensive physicality of viewing art.
